FAQ

Everything about the playground

Questions we get every day from developers evaluating Vedika.

Can I use Vedika outputs to train or distill my own AI model? ToS

No. Absolutely not. This is a hard line in our Terms of Service.

Training, fine-tuning, distilling, or otherwise using Vedika outputs as training data for any AI model — your own, your client's, or a third party's — is a material breach of our Terms. This applies to every endpoint: V1 AI chat, V2 structured calculations, voice outputs, PDF reports, and embeddings.

What we actively enforce:

  • Response watermarking. Every text output carries invisible provenance markers. We can identify a Vedika-derived response even after paraphrasing, translation, or model distillation.
  • Behavioral baselines. Your key's request shape is continuously compared against a per-account baseline. Sudden patterns consistent with bulk scraping or synthetic-data harvesting — same prompts at scale, uniform temperature sweeps, training-set-shaped sampling — trigger abuse detection.
  • Burst and rate-shape limits. We rate-limit not just requests-per-minute but also per-hour sustained patterns typical of dataset construction.
  • Hard block. Confirmed violations result in API_KEY_SUSPENDED on all your keys, immediate forfeiture of remaining wallet balance, permanent ban of the billing entity, and legal referral under your subscription agreement. No refunds for time already used.

What IS allowed: using Vedika outputs in your live end-user product (chat app, voice assistant, report generator, etc.), caching responses per-user for your own app's UX, and aggregate analytics. In short: serve your users, don't build a competitor.

If you're evaluating for a research or academic use, enterprise@vedika.ai — we have a separate licensing path and will reply in 48h. Unauthorized training use costs more later than a 10-minute email now.

What about "hi" / "hello" / non-astrology questions — am I charged? FREE

Free. Not billed. Wallet balance never moves.

Vedika's fast-router detects these intents before any AI call runs, returns a canned response in milliseconds, and does not deduct from your wallet:

  • Greetings — "hi", "hello", "hey", "namaste"
  • Thank you — "thanks", "shukriya", etc.
  • Farewell — "bye", "goodbye"
  • Identity questions — "are you AI?", "who made you?"
  • Tech capability questions — "what can you do?"
  • Non-astrology questions — math, code, translate requests, etc. Returns a polite 400 NON_ASTROLOGY_QUESTION and refunds any wallet hold. Follow-up turns in an existing astrology conversation are allowed (the router knows it's a continuation).
  • Crisis/wellness words — routed to a graduated wellness persona at zero cost, never blocked.

You'll see these in the playground as an Free badge on the assistant message and a $0.00 · not charged cost chip. Astrology queries go through the full AI pipeline and bill at per-query rates.

Does the playground cost anything?
The page itself is free and public. But actual runs are billed against your API key's wallet at the same per-call price you'd pay from your own code — anywhere from $0.001 for a V2 structured endpoint to $0.15+ for a deep AI chat. If you want to explore without spending, use the free mock sandbox at /sandbox — 65 endpoints with realistic mock responses, zero billing, no key required.
Where does my API key go?
Into your browser's localStorage, never to any Vedika server. The playground talks to api.vedika.io directly from the browser using your key, same as our official SDKs do. Clear it any time by hitting the × next to the key field, or by clearing site data.
What's the difference between "Standard" and "Fast"?
Standard (Vedika Pro Ultra path) runs the full multi-stage analysis: chart computation → validation → deep synthesis → anti-hallucination pass. Takes ~20-30s, produces the deepest reading.

Fast (Vedika Swift path) delivers a conversational response in ~1-3s using the same verified chart data, optimized for chat apps. Available on Business ($120) and Enterprise ($240) plans.
What exactly requires an Enterprise key?
Enterprise (vk_ent_*) unlocks:
  • Sampling control — temperature and max-tokens sliders (Live keys use our plan-tuned defaults 0.70 / 1600)
  • Custom system prompts — fully override Vedika's default persona
  • Vedika Voice Jarvis — sub-500ms streaming tier
  • Your Brand voice persona — fully white-label astrologer
  • Higher rate limits100/min vs 30/min on Business
  • Wallet top-up — add funds beyond monthly credits
Everything else works on Live (vk_live_*) keys. Paste an Enterprise key and features marked 🔒 ENT flip to ✓ ENT.
Who can use the Fast path?
The Fast path (Vedika Swift, ~1-3s latency) is available on Business ($120/mo) and Enterprise ($240/mo) plans. Starter and Pro keys are rejected with a 403 PLAN_UPGRADE_REQUIRED if they set speed: 'fast'. Standard path (~20-30s, deeper analysis) works on every paid plan including Starter.
The 3 voice tiers — what's different?
Vedika Voice Standard ($0.072/call) — solid quality TTS, 15+ Indian languages, ~800ms latency. Good for batch IVR and async voice notes.

Vedika Voice Native ($0.040/call, most popular) — native-language vocal texture trained on Indian-accented speech. Same latency as Standard but much more authentic. Available on Business+.

Vedika Voice Jarvis ($0.080/call) — sub-500ms streaming, lowest latency globally for Indic voice AI. Built for live phone calls and real-time conversation. Enterprise only.
Why is a free-tier requested vk_test_ key rejected?
Vedika has no free tier and no free trial — every API call costs a fraction of a cent to a few cents. We used to accept vk_test_ keys but shut them down after abuse. Instead, we maintain a free public sandbox at /sandbox with 65 mock endpoints returning realistic fixture data, which is more useful for development anyway (deterministic, no rate limits, same response shape).
Can I save my playground setup to share with my team?
Yes — hit Copy shareable link in the right column (or S). That generates a URL like /playground?s=... that encodes your endpoint, model, parameters, and question (but never your API key). Anyone opening it sees the same configuration.
What languages does Vedika speak?
30 total, with first-class support for 12: English, हिन्दी, தமிழ், తెలుగు, বাংলা, मराठी, ગુજરાતી, ಕನ್ನಡ, മലയാളം, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, plus Hinglish. AI chat auto-detects the language of your question — set the language field only if you want to override. Voice tiers cover all 15+ Indian voices.
How accurate are the astrological calculations?
100% calculation accuracy — every planetary position is computed mathematically via Vedika Ephemeris to arc-second precision. In astrology, a planet is either in a house or it isn't — there's no "close enough". We audited competing providers and found 4 out of 5 had wrong positions. Vedika's math is verified.
Which endpoint should I use — V1 or V2?
V1 AI chat (/api/v1/astrology/query) — ask in natural language, get a deeply-written answer. Best for end-user chat apps.

V2 structured (/v2/astrology/*, /v2/western/*) — raw JSON of computed data (positions, yogas, dashas, etc). Best when you want to build your own UI on top. Both share the same chart engine.
I'm getting a 429. What's my rate limit?
Starter 10/min, Pro 30/min, Business 60/min, Enterprise 100/min (higher on request). Every response carries X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. On 429, back off exponentially with jitter. The playground shows a detailed error card with the reset time when you hit this.
I hit a bug. How do I report it?
Every response header has x-request-id. Click the icon next to the response to copy it, then email support@vedika.ai with the ID. We can find the exact request in logs and reply with a root-cause in hours.
